Semi-Public
Sewage Systems
Pursuant to House Bill 110
The Environmental Health Division
oversees installation, maintenance and operation of semi-public sewage
disposal systems treating less than 25,000 gallons of wastewater
per day in Geauga County. These systems service small businesses in
areas
where sanitary sewers are not available. The inspection frequency is
determined according to the size and type of system.
Registered sanitarians conduct routine inspections of these systems to determine if they are operating as designed or require repairs of malfunctioning equipment. They can also obtain effluent samples from larger discharging systems. The Environmental Health Division educates the operators of small or outdated systems about the inadequacies of their wastewater treatment. Fees
Services
rendered by the Geauga County
Health
District are subject to fees. Please refer to our current fee tables.
