Surveillance
We have added the position of
Disease Surveillance Specialist to our Public Health team. This
individual’s duties involve monitoring communicable diseases
throughout Geauga County to assure that any illnesses are not
attributed to a biological/chemical incident. This includes working
with other health professionals to assure the timely and accurate
reporting of infectious or communicable illnesses. A statewide Health
Alert
Network is being established to improve our communications with
community medical providers.
The Disease Surveillance Specialist is involved in developing Public Health Emergency Plans at the local and regional level. The Disease Surveillance Specialist is also involved in the assessment of the health needs and concerns of our residents. Providing health education, disease prevention information and training materials for use in the Geauga County community is important. The Disease Surveillance Specialist position is one of paramount importance in the strengthening of the public health infrastructure. Information
