In that first year in 1974, Ohio had total funding in the amount of $757,340 and served 10,175 participants in 18 project sites in the state.

By 1984, Ohio WIC had grown to be statewide with the addition of the 88th county via the Geauga WIC program. In 2011, participation averaged 281,306 per month with an overall grant of $188.6 million and another $58 million in infant formula and infant foods rebates.
