All births and deaths that have occurred since 1909 in Geauga County are registered with the Vital Statistics office of the Geauga County Health District. Records for birth and deaths were not kept in the State of Ohio until 1867. The Geauga County Public Library at 110 E. Park St., Chardon, Ohio 44024, houses records from 1867 to 1908. You can reach the genealogy department by calling (440) 285-7601.
Certifies copies of birth and death records are available in our office, by mail or online for $23.00 each. Only cash or check is accepted at the office. Credit cards can be processed on line or by phone for an additional fee. Due to policies established by the State Department of Vital Statistics, we no longer provide uncertified copies..
To request a certificate either visit the office in person, or send your request with a self addressed stamped envelope and a check or money order payable to Geauga County Health District and mail to:
